Valentines Flowers - Flowers in the Morning

The sun comes up and it’s out of bed. OK, often it is out of bed before the sun comes up. Where is the coffee? Oh, no! It’s a bad hair day. Does this sound like you? Perk up your day with coffee and flowers. Yes, a little pot of flowers sitting next to the coffee pot is sure to start you off on a good day. I love this baby Oncydium orchid plant. It’s radiating stems exude the random chaos of the morning. Bed head for me and my valentines flowers! Add a bagel (toasted with cream cheese) and you know it will be great day.

Valentine's Day Wedding

Location
Since there are thousand other couples planning for a Valentine's Day wedding, it will be better if you do an advance booking of the wedding location. You can choose a church or country hotel where you can have valentines flowers, candles, music and a late night ceremony. It is advisable to select a hotel as you can use it for the ceremony and reception.

Invitation
While choosing the invitation for a Valentine's Day wedding, you should use red and white colors. These colors are traditionally associated with Valentine's Day and are the true representatives of this special day. Keeping these two as the base of the Valentine's Day invite, you can experiment with the content and design of the card.

Decorations
While taking care of decorations, you can put your pictures on love hearts and paste them on tables. Continuing with the theme colors of Valentine's Day, place red and white candles on the table and throw heart shaped candies around them. Also, while numbering the tables, use the names of famous love couples.

Book Your Vendors
Due to peak season, there are high chances that all the vendors will be extremely busy; so contact all the individuals and service providers in advance. It is the only way to secure the best professionals as your caterer, florists, DJ, photographer or make-up artist. These arrangements can cost you a bit more, but remember that wedding is a single time affair to be cherished for the lifetime.

Catering
Being a Valentine's Day wedding, arrange a white cake with red hearts and pink valentines flowers. To give a romantic presentation, you can instruct the baker to form a heart shape by joining two puff swans in the middle. Some of the popular snacks for this occasion can be heart-shaped sandwiches and chocolate covered strawberries.

Favors
When it comes to choosing favors for guests, you can have little gift boxes filled with heart-shaped cookies and a love quote written on the back of a heart-shaped card.

valentines flowers - The Symphony League invites you to its Valentine Ball to benefit the SC Philharmonic

Symphony league, a proud benefactor of the South Carolina Philharmonic, contributes over $30,000 each year to support the South Carolina Philharmonic and to increase awareness of the performing arts in the community.

This year’s major fundraising event will be the 7th Annual Valentine Ball on Sunday, February 12, 2012. In the words of Helen Keller, “The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart.” “ Hearts on a String” is the theme of this year’s ball. Always a festive affair, this event will be no exception. The celebration will feature an open bar, gourmet dinner, dancing, and live music provided by Dick Goodwin’s Big Band. There will be special entertainment during the evening with a highlight being the crowning of the Queen of the Ball.

Honored guests will be Mayor Stephen Benjamin and Judge DeAndrea Benjamin, USC President Dr. Harris Pastides and Ms. Patricia Moore Pastides, and Maestro Morihiko Nakahara, conductor of the South Carolina Philharmonic.

Nakahara, honored attendee for the past four years, said, “The Symphony League’s valentines flowers is one of the liveliest evenings of the year. It has everything you want in an evening out. And while you’re enjoying the food, music, and dancing, you’re also helping support the South Carolina Philharmonic. I’m not sure there’s a more fun way to do that.”

The valentines flowers will be held from 6:00 to 11:00 p.m. at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Columbia. The cost is $125 per person. The Symphony League is a 501 ( c) ( 3) organization for the benefit of the South Carolina Philharmonic. All contributions are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law. valentines flowers - Crafting out family time together

ONE OF the many activities parents can do together with their children is making crafts.
The pleasure children can derive from creating something of their own can be equally fulfilling for the parents, as the process allows them to bond with their children and create beautiful memories.valentines flowers
This is made even more meaningful if the projects result in crafts that can be put up on display for others to admire. Both parents and children can then look back on them with pride.
There are many craft books that can be found on the shelves of bookstores for the uninitiated and the more professional craft-maker. One of them is Martha Stewart’s Handmade Holiday Crafts(published by Potter Craft).
Prepared by the editors of the Martha Stewart Living magazine, this 365-page hardcover tome, as stated in its preface, is dedicated “to the celebration of holidays and to the crafts enthusiasts who create and do all the things that make the occasions so special and meaningful”.
Martha Stewart’s Handmade Holiday Crafts offers “225 inspired projects for year-round celebrations”, and indeed, there are enough ideas in this book to cover all the major American celebrations like New Year, Valentine, Easter, Mother’s and Father’s Day, Fourth of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah and Christmas.
Many of these ideas are a result of years of planning by the team of crafts editors of the Martha Stewart Living magazine.
The craft projects include making cards, decorative items, gifts and gift wrapping, table centrepieces and party favours – all with step-by-step instructions on how to create them as well as the items needed.
Some of the items are as commonplace as eggs, fruits, candies (sweets) and ribbons, and the tools – scissors, tweezers, pencil, ruler, glue and wire. But there are certain items you will need to get from a craft shop or a good stationery shop.
While we might not celebrate all the festivals mentioned in the book, the ideas for the gifts and decorations can be tweaked to suit our culture and traditions, substituting appropriate designs to suit our needs.
For example, there is a whole section on decorating eggs for Easter but check out the lovely egg-cherry blossom tree (pg89) that will not look out of place for Chinese New Year.
Not all the crafts in the book are suitable for children but with their parents doing the hard part, they are doable.
Some innovative ideas suitable for children to tackle are cooker cutter ornaments (pg 281), heart-and-lollipop valentines flowers (pg47), custom canvas bag (pg137), folded shirt cards (pg155), pop-up bouquet card (pg120), fingerprint stamps (pg57) and candy cane mice (pg328).
There are also love-knot bracelets (pg38), glittered balloons (pg21), money and gift card wrappers (pg331), glittered paper ornaments (pg291) and hand-y valentines (pg44) to make.
There is a useful basic techniques section at the back which lists the essential tools and supplies needed for the crafts and teaches the correct way to use some them; as well as thumbnail images of all the clip art and templates included in the book.
You are advised to download the originals from the www.marthastewart.com website.
Martha Stewart’s Handmade Holiday Crafts is one book that will keep the family crafting – and bonding – together for many years to come.
